Hi. I am a
As an independent photographer and artist, I'm passionate about the art of uncovering the heart of stories and bringing them to light—stories that might otherwise be lost in time. Preserving traditions and cultures for future generations is my goal, and I invite you to explore this map through my work.
William González García. Colombian-born photographer and audiovisual filmmaker based in Villa de Leyva, Boyacá, Colombia. After dedicating part of his life to mountaineering and taking his 35mm camera on expeditions through the mountains of South America, photography became a means of expression for his creativity, ultimately turning into a lifelong passion.
His work, primarily focused on editorial and cultural themes, has been showcased in his images for luxury books throughout his career.
In 2009, his photographs were selected for the “Awakened Heart” exhibition and displayed at the Rome International Festival and the Inter-American Development Bank’s cultural center in Washington. His love for nature and curiosity about different ways of life have led him to remote places and to live with indigenous and peasant communities such as the Arhuaco, Uwa, Wayuu, Inga, and Kamsa, among others. Places like Putumayo, Mompox, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, and La Macarena have been explored, captured, and exhibited in some of his works as an independent photographer; his ongoing commitment and connection with the people he portrays make each of his images unforgettable.
When traveling on missions to places like jungles, deserts, or high mountains, it is there that he turns to the most basic elements, such as seeking small filtrations of light or flashes that appear out of nowhere, always striving to dignify all those who give him a portrait.
I would like to express my gratitude to my wife, Laura Benedetti, and my two beautiful daughters, Juana Martina and Antonia Matilda, without whom this project would not have been possible.
